concerned about being able to recover more for your car than your insurance company thinks it is worth. Applying what I know about MY insurance to your situation, it seems that stated value would help. However, an appraisal or sales of comparable cars would be needed to substantiate the value of your car, in case of total loss, for you to recover more than what your insurance company thinks a typical car like yours is worth. So with my insurance, stated value is only important insofar as it can be verified. If your car is heavily modded, I think you need to find a policy that acknowledges the value you place in it, w/o an appraisal or comparable sales being required. This is because the market at large does not value modded cars highly and finding an appraiser that sees the value in your car the same way you do may prove difficult. As the saying goes, 'the devil is in the details.' You need to find a policy that expressly suits you needs. Check out the threads referred to in my first post above. Good luck.
